A highly respected Gungganji Gurugulu woman from Yarrabah in Far North Queensland, Elverina is one of the Nation’s most recognisable and accomplished artists. Enriching the fabrications with Elverina’s bold prints and traditional storytelling, invites the wearer to engage with culture and country. These two original designs were hand painted by Elverina, both exclusive to Taking Shape. Her vision was then interpreted by the Taking Shape designers and brought to life in this stunning collection.

The Dirringhi Natural Shirt Dress from our TS collections is a fabulous, versatile piece to have in your collection. Inspired by the ocean and sea life of far north Queensland, the Dirringhi print features the mussel shell which represents a delicacy, adornment and cutting tool. It is strong and can be cut and shaped and used for special purposes. This plus-size shirt dress is crafted from natural viscose – it is light and soft, and can be worn as a shirt, dress or duster. It features a classic collar, functional button front, frill detail at front and tiers, tiered gathered skirt, handy side pockets, and 3/4 sleeves.

So great to finally see an Indigenous model

Aside from this fantastic collaboration with an Indigenous artist (which should happen much more often), I was so happy to see an Aboriginal woman modelling TS clothing. I really hope more Indigenous models appear on TS website, modelling across all collections.

Feelin deadly

This vivid shirt/dress/duster is surprisingly soft and silky. The subtle frill details enable it to easily be dressed up or down. True to sizing. Finally - deadly designer clothing for us curvy lublys! Elverina Johnson is a talented artist, and her collaboration with TS14 - from affordable tea towels to that luxe coat - is a perfect medium for her visual storytelling.
